HI, for the past year I've been using Bitlord to download torrents, but now I want to try something else. Any suggestions?

I happen to like ABC; others are fond of Utorrent. A client is a client, I guess; whatever works.

I use mutorrent and transmission. Both good clients.

How do you know when a torrent is safe? I saw a audio book as a torrent on google and I'd love to check it out, but (lol), I'm nervous of a virus or something.

Thanks!

The key thing is to scan everything to make sure it's clean. Also keep in mind the size of a torrent, for instence, say you get the complete Black Sabbath catalog, and you see the torrent size is a meg, then that's a bit susspect. But if the same torrent is two or so gigs in size, or more, then it's safe for the most part, but still it's a good idea to scan it with your virus checker after it's done downloading.

For linux is azureus and deluge good idea.
Did you ever think about being tracked by copyright thinks, like OSA?

utorrents a lovely client imo.
Re safe torrents, always read the comments on the torrent site - people will often post if its a fake or a nasty, but bare in mind that if its a program your after, on any popula torrent there'll be at least 1 comment saying its a fake, but this is usually down to someone not knowing what to do to make it work.
Also, most people stop seeding stuff if its a fake, so let the number of seeds be your guide also.
and copywrites, well, so long as you download legal files only, you don't have anything to worry about. A good example of a legal torrent site is wwwlegaltorrents.com
GBEN.

Programs like Peer Guardian can block ip addresses from connecting to you that are affiliated with copyright organizations.
Utorrent all the way!

So, I've downloaded Utorrent. It seems very light and simple, which is what I was looking for.

Thanks.
